Tree Inventory

An inventory is the process of field tagging and mapping the trees on a site.  The purpose of an inventory ranges from providing information such as how many trees there are and what size and quality exists on the site, to assessing the health and providing management information such as pruning specifications.  An inventory goes hand in hand with Tree Protection and Tree Management Plans.

Tree Protection

Not all trees are equal and it really shows at the conclusion of a development project.  Tree longevity is the result of the quality and knowledge of the project arborist.  Trees can be tolerant and not require much in the way of care during construction, or they can be sensitive showing significant decline in a relatively short time after construction.  Knowing the difference and what recommendations really do make a difference for long term health and survival is the key to quality arboriculture services.

Your trees are more than just part of your landscape.  They add beauty, shade, and value to your home.  Finding someone with the experience and expertise who is not involved in tree removal can be exhausting.  Look no further, we can help you to understand the needs of your trees and give them the care they deserve to live for generations to come.

Fire Damaged Trees

Fire has become an ever present threat to our trees.  Focal Point arborists know how to care for trees so they have the best chance of survival in the event of a fire and what to do after.

Trees are resilient—just like you! With care, many can recover and thrive again.

Tree Risk Assessment

Risk evaluation combines the quality of the tree and the likely damage to the property in the event of a failure.  A quality arborist will recognize the outward appearance of structural indicators and defects that might result in a failure.  Experience in tree evaluation for the species in our area and the likely failure mode of these individual species can be crucial to the process.  We have both the knowledge to evaluate which trees and/or parts of your trees create risk and the experience to make the correct recommendations to remediate the situation.

Tree Appraisal

We all recognize the emotional value of trees when we drive down a tree lined street, spend time in the park, or maybe just look out on our own backyard.  It is a more difficult practice to put a dollar value on a tree.  Tree appraisal involves knowledge of the species and the many aspects of how it grows, what it should ideally look like, it’s most likely lifespan, and how it contributes to the landscape.  There is a formal process developed as a collaboration of many organizations within the industry.  We know the process and have the knowledge to provide a competent and defendable value for individual trees and/or groups of trees.

Focal Point Trees

The principal arborist is a ‘grower’.  She propagates Japanese maples and other specialty trees and grows them in quality pottery for use as a landscape focal point.  They are not bonsai which require constant care but developed to be hardy and relatively carefree requiring only regular irrigation.

Tree Management Plans

Managing an individual mature or high value tree or a group of trees requires knowledge about the options and what impact each option might play in the lifespan of those trees.  Pruning is only one tool in the toolbox.  Our arborists are knowledgeable and have experience with trees in every stage of their lives and which tools are most likely to extend their lifespan, reduce risk of failures, protect against insects or fungal infections, and result in healthy, structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing trees.
